eBikes have been growing in popularity since the early nineties and have seen a steady increase in sales in the past few years. Also known as Pedelecs they are extremely popular in places like Denmark and other parts of Europe. Like any product on the market you have a huge range to choose from including varying price tags. So why choose an eBike? Why not I say. We’ve put together some great reasons to invest in your health and help you decide if an eBike is right for you.
Why choose an eBike?
Whether you want a lifestyle change or want to do your bit for the environment, getting out and about in the fresh air cycling is a great place to start. You may want to ditch your car and start commuting to and from work but fear it’s a little too far on a regular bike for your fitness level or the huge hill at the end of the road seems too daunting.
Not on an eBike.
The gentle boost you feel from the motor while pedaling will have you smiling with excitement like a child learning to ride a bike for the first time. (imbed video here)
Using eBikes instead of driving will not only ease road congestion but also help the overall environment from gas emissions.
Some avid road cyclists have switched to an eBike due to lower back injuries and are finding they can now still enjoy cycling while not suffering from the stress pain they had experienced on a regular bike.
We all get older, sad but it’s true. Why stop doing something you love because you have a few more aches and pains. eBikes are a fantastic option for the elderly to still have their independence and get themselves safely from one place to another.
If you have had to give up driving recently due to health reasons or you no longer feel comfortable behind the wheel then an eBike could be the answer to still holding onto your independence. After the initial cost of buying the bike it’s a lot more cost effective than owning a motor vehicle.
Driving in busy traffic can be very stressful and bad for your health. Working long hours can cause numerous health problems including migraines, depression and high blood pressure.
Investing in an eBike is a long-term solution to overall happiness. Imagine riding to work for 30 minutes (twice a day) five times a week. That’s an extra 5 hours of cardio you’ll get while being outside enjoying the fresh air. No need to worry about paying for parking or trying to fight your way into a parking space anymore.
Are eBikes cheating?
Certainly not. We like to think of it as giving you an extra Super Power. Like having an extra cup of coffee in the morning. eBikes enhance your bike ride experience and give you an extra power to go further distances and get out and about more often then you would normally if you only had a regular bike.
What should I consider before buying an eBike?
eBikes are governed under the same Law as a regular bike. It is best to check with your local and federal law in your area for more information. (Insert link to eBike USA Laws here)
Do your research. Read as many reviews as you can. There’s no denying how great an eBike is but choosing the correct one for you is extremely important. If space is a factor consider buying an eBike that folds away and has a collapsible frame. Another thing to consider is where you plan on using the bike. If you plan on using your bike for off Road Mountain biking this will impact on which eBike you choose.
You will have to replace your battery, as they don’t last forever. However, the long-term cost of owning an eBike is far cheaper than using public transport or using your car every day. You could even save on your car insurance if you are using it less every day.
